Its Been Some Time.
Friday, April 13, 2007, 6:47 PM | 0 comments

Okay its been some time since I updated.. its cause Im busy with JC and such.

Its been a month since Orientation 2 and things are running more smoothly for me now, although its been tiring. Been adapting to the new schedules and everything. Im glad im feeling much better than in the few days after orientation. On the first day of Orientation there was already a GP test. Got into the accelerated program for GP. Its like damn chim. Means for GP lessons, I am seperated from my class, which was a bit unsettling at first. But it turned out okay in the end; my group is nice. Although (as usual) I am the only boy in the group. The proportion of males to females in SAJC is like... 0.3:1 ? For the Arts Faculty its like.. 0.2:1 ... or something. Anyway the accelerated GP program.. sometimes it takes me some time to understand and register what the teacher is talking about. Its like too complicated sometimes. I wonder why the world cant be more simple..

For some reason the accelerated GP classes seem extremely "civilized".. i don't know how to describe it. Its a feeling i feel. Its not a bad thing.. but a good change. Anyway from there I finally discovered someone who lives very near me and goes to SAJC also. Its like just down the street.. less than 100m away straight line distance. Its good to know Im not the only one living this far from SA. Phew.

Its not too bad after all, making new friends and all. Even though almost everyone said I made the wrong decision in coming to SA, cause:

1. Its (very) far from my house.
2. Theres (only) 3 people from Ngee Ann (including me) going there.
3. I only knew 1 person there before I entered.

But I believe Im supposed to be there. So far there are many situations in which I think God has prepared for me beforehand. My class is 07A02, and its alright, although there are some jokers in class(this is not meant in a bad way). But the class is rather clique-ish.

JC life is rather hectic at times, but so far of course its still manageable. Anyway for today's Econs test I think I will fail... I knew how to do the questions but i spent too much time on part (a) and was only left with about 10 mins for part (b). And I only wrote 3 pages altogether. Guess next time I have to write faster.

As for catching up with 3 months of work, Im still on my way. But its okay now i guess. I still have some math stuff left to catch up though. And physical geography. And balancing 2 music lessons with JC is rather delicate but still manageable. But when cell group starts in April.. I hope I will be able to cope. Im running for sports day next Friday. No choice, since there are only 6 boys in class including me. No choice.. hope i dont let my class down. : /

Guess thats about it for now.. there's alot more but no time for it. Shall take my leave now. (:

PS: I coloured the first few phrases of each paragraph to make the words easier to read. I think when I edit this template (not the image but the template, the code itself) in the future Im going to make the font a bit bigger..

JAE 2007
Tuesday, March 06, 2007, 5:52 PM | 0 comments

I finally got back my Joint Admissions Exercise posting today. And as expected, I didn't get into Tamasek Junior College. After all, a 10-pointer wouldn't stand much chance of getting in there.

Instead, I got into St. Andrews Junior College(SAJC) (Arts Stream). The truth is even though SAJC is okay, the problem is that it is soooooooo damn far from my house. -_- Now I am gonna waste so much time on transport... shuffling here and there in between. :(

The worse thing is I have school tomorrow. Call me naive but it was totally unexpected.. i expect school to start after the march holidays. Now school starts tmr and i'm not mentally prepared for it..

Tomorrow will probably be orientation and stuff.. I hope it won't be too long that I can't go to music clef. Craps, this event was totally unexpected.. its so sad. :(

And I will have to explore tmr how to go home from SAJC. The nearest MRT station is Potong Pasir.. dots.

Anyways enough complaining.. to all those that are wondering why I havent updated my blog.. its simply because i have nothing much to write except for about the Japan Trip (which i am in no mood to write about, currently) but once JC starts Ill surely have things to write about, so yea. :) Actually even if JC didn't stuff I would still have things to write about, but o well, no mood to write anything.

So there.. Ill be reporting at SAJC tmr at 7:30am.. :'(

O yea, and before i forget to mention, i don't know anyone there at all besides Tiffany from church and so Ill have to make new friends. Im all alone in SAJC for now :'(

2006 Japan Trip (7th-27th December) + Uncle Ben's Family [PART III]

Note: As the whole of the Japan trip is too long to put in a single post, it will be split into parts. This is the 3rd part. To see Parts 1 and 2, scroll down.

Note: To get a better picture, open it in a new window. Then you can see the high-resolution version.

PART III (15th - 16th December)

Okie its the 3rd Part! By this time, we are already in Hokkaido, and on the 15th we left Hakodate (the port city) for further up north - to Otaru City. We stayed in the outskirts of the city. Then after staying in the city for 3 days and 2 nights we travelled to Niseko. The 3rd Part only covers our time in Otaru City, which was mainly on the 15th and 16th as on 17th we left Otaru for Niseko. By the way, Otaru is the northernmost point that we reached.

15th December, Friday
On the morning of this day, we ate breakfast at the Yumekukan Pension. Then we went walking around the Pension Yumekukan area.

Breakfast at Pension Yumekukan.

After having breakfast and walking around the Pension, we checked out. But before that, we took a photo with our friends at Yumekukan.

Us and our friends in front of the Pension Yumekukan in a group photo.

Then, before we left for Otaru, we went to the Hakodate wet market to explore around. We spent some time there. On the way, we took some pictures of the bay and passed a canal.

Squid fishing boats. The lanterns hanging in a line at the top of each boat are to attract squids.

Us at the canal. There are starfish and other fishes in the water.

After visiting the wet market, (by the way, Japanese wet markets are way cleaner than Singapore's wet markets) we went to eat ramen at the old ramen shop.

The Ramen Shop.

After eating lunch at the ramen shop, we left for Otaru. By the time we reached Otaru, it was already dark. We had dinner at the hotel (it was part of the hotel package) and then retired for the day.

16th December, Saturday

On Saturday, we remained at Otaru and did no driving - we went skiing at the Asari Ski Jose. Finally I got to ski again - it had been a very long time since I had skied. Anyway since it was the first time Sarah and Timothy were skiing, XP and me had to teach them. So we didn't really go on the chairlifts at the Asari Ski Jose, since the whole day was spent teaching them. Skiing is a very tiring and time consuming activity.

We spent the whole day at the Ski Jose. Sarah and Timothy did not use the chairlifts at this Ski Jose as they were not yet experienced enough. We only owned 3 pairs of skis (we did not want to waste money renting), so Sarah and Timothy took turns. However, we did rent a sled. Although me and XP both didn't get to use it, since the rest were not on skis.

The Sled.

Oki, thats the end of Part III. It covers the 2 days in Otaru. Part VI will be covering the 4 days in Niseko - one the most major highlights of the trip! I hope it will be completed soon though - getting busy with preparing for JC and other stuff.

2006 GCE "O" Level Results
Sunday, February 11, 2007, 5:24 PM | 0 comments

Okay.. so i finally got back my 2006 GCE "O" Level results on Friday, 9th February, 2007 at 3:10pm.

I won't state my results here but yea, even though I'm a bit disappointed it wasn't 10 or below (excluding CCA), at least it was a big improvement from the l1r5 in my prelims. I scored 17 points better than the l1r5 in my prelims, for which I thank God. Actually even though I wish I got better marks for my Os, I don't really think I deserve the marks I got, since I was slacking a lot before the Os and during the Os itself, playing computer games on the actual days of many of my O Level Examinations. Anyway thank God for His grace and mercy.

So where am I going now after this big hurdle? I guess I'll definitely try Tamasek Junior College (TJC) but I don't really think I'll be able to get in. So St. Andrews JC will be my next choice, then Meridian, and then Anderson and Nanyang I guess.

Thanks to all the people who prayed for me, all the teachers who taught me, and my parents and brother who supported me, and last but not least all my friends who also helped me and gave me support.

So I wonder which path to take; now is the time for me to decide.

The next Japan Trip post is still in the works. Hopefully it will come out soon.
